Blythe has had quite the year - managing 3x Grammy nominee Ingrid Andress and launching a new company with John Geraghty, rogue. What she and her team have accomplished in a few years is incredible.

Blythe and I met a few years back after a mutual friend introduced us. I had just started in the music industry and Blythe was kind enough to meet for a few coffees.

“You go around town and see those NSIA bumper stickers ‘Everything begins with a song’… That’s truly where everything starts,” Alicia said.

With over 15 years of experience in the music industry, there isn’t much she can’t do. This episode I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with Alicia Pruitt, long time publisher and manager here in Nashville.

For the past few years, I felt like I heard Alicia Pruitt’s name so often I kept thinking to myself, “Man, I need to meet her.” And everything I kept hearing about her was how cool, passionate and smart she was. She works with people she believes in and does everything she can to put them in the best positions.

This episode I was lucky enough to hang our with Renee Blair, up and coming artist.

I remember I saw Renee a few years back when I first moved to Nashville. This woman walks in to my favorite coffee shop with red, white, and black Air Jordan 1 Retro Highs on. Now, we all know my love for sneakers…

I was like, “Dang, that girl has swag.”

Then our worlds collided when she wrote one of my favorite songs with one of our writers called, “Bad News.” We dive more into this on the episode!

Episode nine is special to me because I was able to sit down (virtually) and talk with one of my co-founders, Mara Chaben.

Mara and I met a few years ago through a mutual friend, Cooper. We all shared a passion for entrepreneurship and life. I was instantly intrigued by Mara’s story - her resilience, demeanor, sense of sureness.

I remember our first coffee (RIP the Jam - best coffee house in Nashville), she told me about this wild idea - a mobile meditation studio in a BUS!

Most people want to make an impact and a difference in this world. Our guest this episode wanted to wake up every morning knowing she was doing good and making a difference for others.

Tiffany Kerns, Executive Director, CMA Foundation & VP Community Outreach, continues to make a difference in this world by helping lead the CMA Foundation encourage and support music education.

She travelled a unique path to find a place where her skills at problem solving and so much more have matched perfectly to the task at hand.

Her experience in the political world taught her life lessons about reading and engaging with people. It helped her form her thoughts on community building and the importance of community for the future.

It’s a weird time right now. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy while we are going through this social distancing time. I hope releasing some podcasts at this time will shed some positivity and help you all pass some time.

Bear with me (Yes, I searched the spelling for that) - I’m still learning mic form, editing/ compressing, etc. All those fun things I had to Google and ask people for help on when creating a podcast!

If someone told me when I was 16 I would be working in the music industry when I was older, I’d probably respond with, “No.”

Even better, if someone would have told me I’d be working in music publishing, I’d probably respond with, “What’s music publishing?”

Yet here I am, running a small music publishing company in Nashville called Plaid Flag Music.
