Warrented EP. 12: Alicia Pruitt

“You go around town and see those NSIA bumper stickers ‘Everything begins with a song’… That’s truly where everything starts,” Alicia said.

With over 15 years of experience in the music industry, there isn’t much she can’t do. This episode I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with Alicia Pruitt, long time publisher and manager here in Nashville.

For the past few years, I felt like I heard Alicia Pruitt’s name so often I kept thinking to myself, “Man, I need to meet her.” And everything I kept hearing about her was how cool, passionate and smart she was. She works with people she believes in and does everything she can to put them in the best positions.

Well, we finally had the chance to meet when recording this episode - and it was well worth the wait! Alicia has one of those personalities that instantly captivates and her passion exudes through her.

She tells a hilarious story about the moment she realized her basketball dreams had ran their course and it was time to move to Music City to chase her dreams of working in the music industry.

She truly does believe everything in Nashville starts with a song and loves the creative process which makes sense how she first landed in the publishing side of the industry.

When she was in high school she used to wonder about the writing process while looking at the back of albums at the credits.

With her love of music and songs she quickly climbed the ranks at Warner/ Chappell working with some of country’s biggest names including Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Brantley Gilbert, and Lauren Alaina.

Her most recent addition is her transition from publisher to publisher and manager. She now manages artist Josie Dunne and up and coming artist Patrick Murphy.

In 2018, she launched Madfun Entertainment, which “will provide full service talent management, serving artists and songwriters across the music industry.”

One of the coolest things she talks about is how she still tries to listen with those same ears as when she was 14 or 15 years old. She walks us through her process of what she looks for including how does it make her feel?

This episode was a blast and we all can quickly hear how much Alicia loves music and the power it has.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and don’t forget to check her artists out!
