Sneaker Sizing - Tips and Tricks
One of the harder things when sneaker shopping is knowing your correct size, especially when shopping online.
I receive a good amount of texts asking how certain sneaker brands run sizing wise.
These tips have been consistent for me and multiple of my friends. That being said, I have a narrower foot with really high arches, so I can’t guarantee these sizing tips will fit you exactly!
I wear a 9 in most shoes.
NIKE
Nike runs the truest to size. I will always be a size 9 in every shoe EXCEPT one. I would always suggest sizing down in the popular Air Force 1 line. They run larger and I size down at least a half size. I consistently purchase an 8.5 in any Air Force 1 shoe.
ADIDAS
Adidas consistently runs large. I always size a half size down from my normal 9.
I rarely order a size 9 in Adidas, but occasionally if I know the shoe will only be a lounge pair, I may go to a size 9 just for some room - Like a comfy pair of oversized sweatpants.
WOMEN TO MEN:
I’m sure most of you all know, but some people still ask how to convert a women’s size to men’s. Always take a size and a half off from a men’s size to get an accurate women’s size.
I use this tip a lot due to most sneakers with more color and crazier designs seem to drop in men’s sneakers only.
Example: Women size 9 = Men size 7.5
WOMEN TO BIG KIDS:
Sneaker trick!
One great way to save money or if something is sold out in the women’s - Go check out the Big Kid’s section (sometimes also referred to Grade School section) on sneaker stores online. (Examples: Finish Line, Champs, Foot Locker, etc.)
I wear a size 9 and have purchased in the kid’s section to save money and Kid’s sizes will actually be the same size as your converted size in men’s. Weird, I know.
Unfortunately, kid’s sizes normally stop at size 7. So this trick won’t work for everyone!
Check out the conversion chart below for more information and an easier visual. No mental math needed!
Thanks for reading and hope this helps next time the sneaker shopping bug hits!
